Rotterdam, 22 december 2009 - On 1 January 2010, Eneco will lower the variable rates for the supply of both electricity and gas. After the price change in July, this is the second time in a row that the rates are lowered. The reduction for electricity is no less than 15%. The gas rate is also slightly lowered, even though the gas prices were already reduced by more than 30% last summer. This again makes Eneco the cheapest of the three largest energy companies in the Netherlands.
Guaranteed Price Contract offers immediate advantage
Consumers don’t have to wait until 1 January to benefit from the lower rates, since the rate reduction has already been incorporated in the current Guaranteed Price Contracts. Guaranteed Price Contracts offer customers long term price security, and currently at a very sharp price.
Sustainable energy
Eneco has made a reasoned decision to adopt a sustainable strategy. This is demonstrated by the fact that the rate for Eneco’s brand of green electricity, Ecostroom®, is equal to that of regular electricity. In addition we make substantial investments in sustainable energy projects such as independent biomass plants and new onshore and offshore wind farms. These efforts do not go unnoticed. In October 2009, Greenpeace again elected Eneco to be the cleanest energy producer in the Netherlands. This proves that sustainable doesn’t necessarily mean more expensive.
