Rotterdam, 9 December 2008 - During the next four years the Eneco Tour will again be part of the UCI ProTour. Today, the UCI Licence Commission granted Eneco the UCI ProTour licence for a period of four years (2009 through 2012), which guarantees the Netherlands and Belgium a stage race of the highest level.
Pat McQuaid, Chairman of the UCI: “The UCI is proud to be able to announce that also for the next four years the Eneco Tour will remain part of our UCI ProTour. We have every confidence in the plans presented by Eneco.”

We consider the Eneco Tour to be the flagship of our cycling sponsorship. In addition, we are pleased that the period of uncertainty regarding the Eneco Tour has now come to an end. In the new situation we will be able to organise a top-level event. And that is what we are going to do!”
Golazo Sports will act as the organiser of the Eneco Tour on behalf of Eneco. Galazo Sports is known for the organisation of events such as the Tour of Belgium, the Six Days of Hasselt and Gent and other major events including the Memorial Van Damme.
Soon the first steps for setting out the course for the Eneco Tour 2009 will be taken and discussions will be held with potential stage towns. The Eneco Tour 2009 takes place from August 19 through 26.
